Available in 4 sizes, they can be manually trimmed to size for maximum comfort. Sea sponges are very absorbent and can also be used during intercourse. IMPORTANT: In case of vaginal infections, please refrain from using the sponge and use a new sponge after successfully treating the disorder.
After sexual intercourse, the sponge should always be washed.

How to use and treat the menstrual sponge
FIRST USE
To neutralize the sponge’s pH before first use, we recommend soaking it in water and vinegar. Then, during use, rinse the sponge, squeeze it, and insert into the vagina with clean fingers. The sponge can be pushed up towards the cervix with the middle finger. Its shape will adapt to the vagina.
If you feel the sponge is too big, you can trim it as you like, but only after trying the sponge and realizing how small it becomes when moistened and squeezed.
The sponge can be easily inserted and removed with two clean fingers. For added comfort during insertion, add a drop of water-based lubricant on the tip. You will feel a little pressure at first, but it should not bother you.
Trim the sponge:
You can trim the sponge ONLY IF you feel that you need to.
Before cutting the sponge, wash and squeeze it to check its real size. Never cut it in the middle.
You can shape it by cutting 1/8 of its outer perimeter, and with each cut, try it to check how it feels.
Remove the sponge and wash it:
If you push your pelvic floor muscles as if you were weeing, the sponge will slightly move outwards, making removal easier. When the sponge is completely wet, rinse it under cold running water, so the blood does not clot. The remaining mucus will be removed more easily with warm water. The sponge will need to be removed and washed according to the intensity of the menstrual flow. During the first two days (of heavier flow), you may need to wash the sponge every 2-3 hours.
When the menstrual flow decreases, you can wear the sponge for 4-6 hours at most.
The frequency of changing/washing is similar to a regular tampon.
Before each reuse, the sponge can be immersed in hot water. Some women prefer to soak it in warm water before reinserting because the sponge will feel pleasantly warm.
How to wash and preserve it?
After use, you should rinse the sponge with warm water and hang it to dry.
A natural sea sponge does not have to be boiled because it consists exclusively of natural fibers.
If boiled, the sponge will shrink and toughen, becoming less comfortable and reducing its lifetime.
Wash the sponge only with natural soaps so that no residue alters the pH of your vagina.
Some tips:
- Vinegar: Soak the sponge in a 1:2 solution of vinegar and water for a couple of hours every now and then, for example, overnight.
- Hydrogen peroxide: Alternatively, use a solution of 1/4 of a cup of H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) and 1/4 of a cup of water, which will also whiten the sponge if it has darkened with use.
- Tea tree oil: 2 or 3 drops of tea tree oil in 1 cup of warm water for 10/15 minutes will do the same job. Tea tree oil is very effective against bacteria and inhibits the proliferation of up to 60 strains of bacteria, and will eliminate any odors.
- After cleaning, air-dry the sponge and DO NOT leave it in a humid bathroom as it can attract bacteria.
Store the sponge in a cotton bag or clean sock
